Salsa and Confidence

Okay. I admit it, i've taken Salsa classes.

Been to jitterbugs for my 2nd lesson and boy, was it fun. I mean, why do people take Salsa lessons? To dance?

Nah. It is to pick up chicks.

There i said it.

And why do chicks do salsa classes? WHY WHY WHY? pick up guys?

I don't know.

After all, i know a few people who have taken salsa classes and after class, never ever put their dancing skills to practice.

After all, how often do you go to salsa fiestas at xenbar/jitterbugs/union square on friday nights? All you get is the mating dance of humans that is clubbing.

i.e. guy sees hot chick in salsa bar, struts towards her, offers his hand, says smugly (or terrifyingly) "may i have a dance"

gal looks away, laughs, and dimisses him with a wave of hand.

guy slinks back to buddies who are laughing.

(i did it in yellow for effect)

anyone visited those dating websites lately? YES JOSES I KNOW YOU HAVE.

shhhhhhh.. don't say so loud can.

anyway, they talk about confidence. (for the record, i must say that i do NOT visit such websites. I just have spam sent to me which i devour when i'm bored out of my pubic hair.

how to most beautiful of women just want some arrogant biatch or himbo to ignore them and treat them as though they weren't goddesses.

right.

so next time i see cindy crawford on the street, i shall go over and say:

hey, your IQ is the the same as the size of my dick.

bingo. I win. both ways. rather annoying, i am.

and that brings me back to salsa. You see, i know many guys taking salsa classes. myself, EOCC mates wenliang, des, kelvin, and william. okay not a lot, but enough to consider.

and i know 1 girl taking salsa. Just 1. and i wonder? WHO THE HELL AM I KIDDING THAT THIS SHIT THAT I AM LEARNING IS GOING TO BE THE ANTIDOTE TO MY SAD EXISTANCE?

okay. for those who wanna know? i take salsa cause i wanna go panama to dance when i get to the US. plus i heard that west coast salsa competition is in Illinois in 2006. hehe heard only ahhhh...

and frankly, i need to learn how to dance. I have 2 left feet. Cutting it down to one a half with lessons. hopefully, i'll be normal soon with 1 left foot.

or maybe none, like anakin skywalker.

Cool, Star wars is. Watch it, you must.

The Next Elected President of Singapore

Well well, so the presidential elections have come again.

I am still not old enough to vote (unlucky candidates), but then, the last time we voted for a president was i-can't-remember because each election was almost a walkover by the incumbent, or someone heavily backed up the PM, MPs and government.

so here are some presidential nominees that COULD make an impact on Singapore in the future...

1) Gurmit Singh
Why not, he's an icon, he has been out there for NKF charity shows year after year (fulfils the "helped society criteria -check"), and is recognisable all over the world thanks to his stint on the Amazing Race as PCK.

Let's hope he won't appear on national TV in his permed hair and yellow boots. That'll be a hoot.

2) Eunice Olsen- or some other former beauty queen. Nadya, Jaimee Ong blah blah blah
We have broken taboos (or so some say) by having beautiful NMPs (nominated members of parliament). So let's break more taboos by having a beautiful president. (she may be an airhead, but other presidents would just look at one spot when she makes her appearance.)

3) Philip Yeo
And Singapore shall go to war. I can imagine his comments on Malaysia and other neighbouring countries if he gets elected...

4) Xiaxue.
NO! Case closed. But apparently, she's Singapore's most famous blogger (puke). Some style, but less and less substance liao. Well, who needs a short president anyway?

5) Clarence's tuition teacher *again*
For those not in the know, the last time we *tried* to elect a president, his tuition teacher applied, only to be rejected because he did not have the criteria necessary to be president.

He should try again. And then get rejected, and we would have a president that would be nominated by default (because whoever he is, he is the only *qualified* nominee)

6) LKY.
He has the cabinet in his hands, he has Singapore businesses in his hands, why not make the presidential seat his as well? Cons? He's a tad too old already, should be happily enjoying his retirement.

7) Me.
Why waste the money to send myself up for election when i'm not even going to get past the first round:)? haha.

Really, do we even have a presidential candidate in the wings? Maybe Peter Ho, maybe a retired former permanant secretary. Really I don't know.

But whomever our choices, it would be better than George W. Bush, and we'll never go to war because of weapons of mass destruction.

Or maybe we could attack the Riau islands to kill all the child prostitudes so that NMP Ms. Olsen would have her wish of the gahmen (borrowed from mrbrown) doing something to stop paedophilic Singaporean men.

Quite sad actually, paedophilic Singaporean men. I hope i don't know anyone who would turn up like that (i have one person in mind). But those you tend to have a latent dislike seem to end up in your family.

P.S. check out 01s70.blogspot.com for our class blog!

Singaporean Male Scholars. Whiny?

Hello Mr. Phillip Yeo.

I happened to read this morning's edition of Sunday Times at 6 am in the morning and i was to put it mildly, incensed to read of the CHAIRMAN of A*STAR making such degoratory comments such as these.

"I rather give my scholarships to females and foreigners"

"Singapore male scholars are whiny, even after doing NS, they are still not mature" -paraphrased

Hello, I am a scholar from Singapore, occifer from OCS and served with pride in the army for 2 fucking years.

and tell you what, i am actually considering ways to get the fuck out of my bond, including going to SMU and finding my own financing for my studies.

WHY? Because the Singapore government is autocratic. and frankly, comments like these don't help. We also view the 6 years bond as something akin to NS, where there is no freedom of choice for us.

Why don't girls get it? Because they have not experienced the bureaucracy of the public service, they have not experienced the paperwork, the administration, the system.

In NS, it is ALWAYS about the DAMN SYSTEM.

Even NOW, my mum complains about the education system. It is always the system. It elevates foreign "talent", it does not provide flexibility, and certainly certain "POLICIES" cannot be bypassed because mr. so and so said so.

we guys have been through the system. Granted, it is efficient. It has worked for many years. It is a system in place set by higher ups in their "policy" decision.

Much like 2+2 years for bachelor/masters cannot, but 3+1 for the same can. WHY? (If you dunno about it, go read acidflask incident.)

policy. It is always policy.

There is NO FLEXIBILITY IN THE SYSTEM!

ladies, before you mouth off saying us guys are weak and whiney, we are not whiney. (fuck i don't even wanna bother to find out the correct spelling)

We don't whine. we know better not to whine. it never works. NS makes you a good whiner. I know, I'm a PC. (SIR... VERY LONG LA THE ROUTE MARCH, SIR.. More time for canteen break, Sir... please this please that.)

WE know we have to work the people who run the system, for the system doesn't allow for What-ifs. It's just like the no-U-turn. In Singapore, you have to ALLOW a certain action. If you can't find it in the policy book, ermm sorry, not allowed.

Other places, it's the opposite. Everything is allowed unless it is explicitly disallowed.

So tell me how to produce good, model citizens who can actually think with such a system?

Sorry Mr. Yeo, i have great respect for you, esp. biopolis and stuff. But i have to firmly and politely disagree with you on this point.

In fact, most scholars serve their bonds and fuck off. we are having the best and brightest, the critical thinkers, thinking of leaving public service after they've been there and done that.

Let's hope it will change in the future.

EVERY FUCKING ONE HAS A BLOG

This is seriously getting to me.

I mean, everyone has a God damn blog nowadays. It's like, i could just walk up to a TOTAL stranger, know how she looks like, know where she lives, know her friends, know her hp number, know her course of study in which school, and tell her about her day.

That's what blogging has made the world today.

I was blog surfing today. Yes, and then i just surfed. I went through friends of friends, friends that i had known before at one point, friends that knew me that i didn't know, and lots and lots of acquaintances.

The thing struck me.

We that are going overseas and had been to NS, we're missing out on a lot in life.

Yes. Our contacts in the future will be world wide, our networks will be global. We will not have the networking in Singapore, our home country and where out friends are.

So how can we be the priviledge in society?

I mean i went to meet up with my army friends today. Or so i thought. And out of 19 people, like 7 were from the army. The rest were friends of friends of friends who met up at one point or another and became friends, whether volleyball friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, fuck partners or whatever.

My point is, in 4 years time, who would I know in Singapore?

Would i even feel that i belong in Singapore anymore?

Who are those people whom i care about who would anchor me to Singapore? Will my friends be Singaporeans? Will i be able to meet them after work for a light chat. a drink. a game of bowling.

or will i sit at my computer, devoid of any human interaction? and type in pictures, words and emoticons to convey my feelings to another human being who might not even feel that i'm worth talking to!

Blogs are disturbingly global, and they are disturbing. Privacy VS connectivity. Which is more important to you? And why are we feeling so much more lonely nowadays, even with the massive leap in communications technology?

In improving our ways to communicate, we have lost our human ability to communicate. that's what i feel.

Suddenly i feel like running away from it all, never to come back to Singapore again.

are my friends those on MSN? or those i meet? or those who read my blog?

MSN Shit

My MSN contacts list.

For those who can't zoom in, lemme explain why i find it so hilarious.

Firstly, i have two staunch christians with LONG LONG names (i.e. La douleur est juste mais un sentiment blah blah blah and Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling and present you faultless etc etc) right on top of one another.

And both seem to expouse Jesus Christ or smth. Of course, they are Weiling and Paul.

And below them, are Seah and Jiahui. Seah with the nick "seah - love?love has left the building" and Jiahui with "what's love got to do with it?"

They don't know each other. That's why it's fucking hilarious.

I am disturbed.. a question about morality

Does being my friend make you elevated in my judgement of a person's morality?

How do you judge morality? Is it a Godly virtue, determined by a divine power, as many believers tend to conlude?

Or is it a miasma of age old virtues and values deemed best for the survival of the human race, an evolution of thought separate from the divine?

Is morality a human issue or is it a divine issue? and does being my friend make you exempt from my principles and my view of your morality?

All these questions started with a riddle that occured when i came back involving a friend of mine. I am a person who values personality, who values virtue and believes greatly in personal discipline and your own values guiding your way in life.

This friend of mine has been short of these high targets of mine for very long. In fact, i must say that some of my friends have fallen short of targets i would judge others on, some by very far margins. Yet in being my friends, they have my trust that one day, they will repent and realise their folly. Not in a christian, buddhist or muslim sense, but in the essence of being human.

Critics who say i have no moral highground take note, I am saying this on my own personal judgement. I don't need your biase criticism. Of course, if you have constructive thoughts, please feel free to comment, but refrain from personal attacks.

I believe in the liberty of Man. Of being able to fight for your own freedom and to fight for what is right in the world. That right is determined of course, by this unknown value of conscience. The conscience that some possess in great degree, and in others, seem sorely lacking.

This is for my friend who seems to lack conscience.

Alcohol is good. It acts as a buffer for your own follies, for your own indiscretions. I say it's BULLSHIT.

Alcohol is a cover for your own underlying beliefs and principles.

If you believe in your own morals, in abstainance, in giving others the right for freedom and the respect of a human being, under the influence of alcohol, your mind is strong enough to resist all thoughts and stick close to your own principles.

I know, because I have been there. When I'm high, i tend to speak my mind, but i know i will never do anything to break my own morals and my own principles. If not, i would already have numerous chances to do so.

To you, alcohol is not an excuse. Life is not better when you are drunk.

It's sad really. To offer friends the chance of redemption. It sounds very grave, but in reality, if they were friends of mine, they would treasure friendship. I treasure my friends. I would never forget one who helped me, who has stood by me, who has given me advice and stuck by me through thick and thin.

But i give friends more chances than i give enemies or strangers. I am quick to judge enemies and strangers, one chance and your character is judged by me. To friends, i tend to believe in chances. To give many chances, to sway to my own way of thinking, to offer advice, and if all fails, to agree to disagree on certain issues on character, morality and personality.

But you are still my friend.

I am unclear on facts, but time has presented me with clues and indications to certain personalities i cannot live with. or live without. Am i a sounding board? a comfort in times when nobody understands and everyone condemns? for i am quick to forgive and give chances again and again.

or am i ruthless and unforgiving? bringing up clues and past events to destroy relationships and play politics with those i dislike?

i am what i am.

i am an enigma. but my morality holds strong. i believe in that. give me one instance where i have not done right, and i will admit my mistake.

i must say i believe i have done right in my life.

so please, free yourself from torment that you give yourself, and start living a life that is right in your eyes, in others eyes and if you believe in God, in the eyes of God, be it Allah, Yahweh or Jesus.

Be true to yourself.

My dear friends, C'est La Vie

I'm Too Lazy To Blog My Trip

So read all about it on Jesse's blog!

Read all about how i nearly got lost and became a beggar here!

Read about the train ride here!

And frankly, I'm just to lazy to pick my memory on all the details. So i'll hitch on his blog and excerpt it:)

Excerpts:

In Bangkok, About me.
He got lost. Ohmygod! The biggest, tallest of us has been kidnapped by a Bangkok gang and had his limbs chopped off so he could become a beggar.

In Cambodia, Getting from Poipet to Siem Reap.
What added to the atmosphere were large signs (the only billboards, not much advertising in Cambodia yet) with drawings of AK-47s and other firearms, exhorting to Cambodians in what seems to be "Guns are not needed anymore."

See how generous I was!
We were hustled by many young children begging for things, some who tried pilfering stuff from our pouches and just desperate for some money... Lip gave them 2 SGD which seemed like a novelty to them, but they'd probably try to change it for money they could use.

Actually just getting them off my back.

Plight of Singaporean PR with Indon Passport and my first day miseries.
The rest of the day was ambiguous, to say the least. Lip had lost his rain cover and damaged the buckle of his backpack, thanks to some inept baggage handling. Now, I mananged to pass immigration without much difficulty, nor did I get singled out for baggage check like in Singapore

Okay you all can stop bugging me now and asking how my trip was. On another note, i think i shall go Australia this june to see a friend, maybe backpack the length of Australia just for kicks:)

You Know When You Are Crazy...

When You start talking to yourself.

I have that a lot.

I am crazy.

It all started with something. You know, the lady on the bus talking a lil too loud on her handphone, your friend taking a little too long in the toilet, your sister asking to use the computer for a little while. They trigger something in me. And I start imagining hypothetical scenarios wildly contrary to the actual outcome.

Example.

Frd: "Could I borrow this VCD pls?"

Me:"Sure!"

Me (thinking): "NO you can't you bastard. Who Am i to you so that you can borrow my stuff and not return it for the next billion years you shit head. wHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR DAMN PROBLEM. Go buy your god DAMNED own SET OF VCDS! DON'T ASK ME FOR IT YOU FUCK. I'm NOT YOUR FUCKING MAID or your fucking mother who can have sex with you whenever you wanna and whenever you need to jerk off. I also know you want it because of that scene in chapter 3 around the time 40 min and 11 sec where the heroine takes off her clothes and you wanna rewind it over and over and over again and jerk off infront of your god damned tv every single fucking night.

Me:"please return it after you're done."

Frd:"Sure".

And i'll never see it again.

And you know, it's the same thing with SMS and MSN.

Frd:"Hey how are you"

Me (thinking):" I DON'T WANNA CHAT WITH YOU YOU FUCKING BITCH. LEAVE ME ALONE. I wanna chat with that girl who keeps on giving me the cold shoulder and so i'm returning the same treatment but she's probably happier than me and thus i am seething inside me and i refuse to answer your god damn loaded question which would lead me down the path of no return and i have to type and type and type and answer in the form of good will. SO FUCKING HELL GET LOST AND LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Me (typing):"Hey! I'm Fine! :) How's your day? been busy?

And the list goes one.

Or how about today in the cab.

Taxi Driver:"look at this information dial that can display colours on the screen and it helps me navigate but it's not as good as the previous version which had a little red dot and blah blah (drone on)"

Jesse:"Cool."

Me (thinking):"SHUT the fuck up. IF I WANTED TO KNOW HOW IT WORKS I WOULD HAVE ASKED YOU YOU STUPID FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR DAMN PROBLEM. I WANT A PEACEFUL RIDE TALKING WITH MY FRIENDS AND NOT ADMIRING YOUR LATEST GADGET AFTER BEING 1 FREAKING MONTH AWAY FROM THE DAMN ISLAND THAT IS MY GOD DAMN HOME AND IT's fucking boring and i haven't been clubbing and i'm bored and i need to see some people whom i really wanna meet who just don't give a fuck about me because they are busy with some dickheads (drone on)

Me (saying): "Cool! What is that button for?"

ARGH!!!!

Case closed.

Chances are, you have to be my really good friend to catch me talking to myself in a audibly loud volume that really pisses authorities off and probably would piss you off too. Try catching me when i'm drunk or ask me out for a drink.

Yay. I love life. Now everyone knows what i'm really thinking.
Shit. I Should've shut my god damn mouth up.

Hanoi

I might as well start blogging.

Well. Let's do a sort of reverse chronological blogging order, starting with the end of my trip and ending with the front. After all, i can remember the end better than i remember the start.

I must say that really, 1 month is too short a time to backpacking half of indochina. You really need like a minimum of 2 months to even get into the culture of things in vietnam, cambodia and thailand. It would be similar to spending 3 days in Singapore and saying you've seen the whole country when in fact, you have not visited Causeway Point or Lot 1 or Parkway parade but just been around Orchard Road.

You know, see the tits and the cunt but nothing much in between. It pisses the girls off. Pay more attention to the whole package.

On a side note, I actually like hair on females. Long like wavy, shiny hair. The features come in a close second, hopefully fair, and at least looking a tad better than average. No need to be too tall, and frankly, a personality is much better than 36f boobs.

SO Hanoi. My PDA reads "Hanoi was a city of cockups and scams literally oozing out of every nook and shop".

How true.

Lemme just LIST the scams

1) Taxi scam - Tried to charge us SGD 5 for a 10km ride when from the map, it was at most 2 km walk.

2) Old Darling Cafe - Lousy guesthouse with lousy manager called Davis who kept on bugging us about his TOURS and his lousy claim of having a room for 4 (we had to wait till the previous occupants checked ou before we could even enter the room). And he shouted and sweared at us after i told him we weren't taking his tour. (Ok i kinda lied to him)

3) Halong Bay - Lousy scam of the century. We paid USD 30 for "2 caves, swimming, kayaking and small group with stay on boat". We got 1 freaking tourist cave, no swimming, no kayaking, thousands of vietnamese locals (amounting to a total of 30 peeps), rigid tour guide, and false promises. In the end we were just a transport boat to and fro catba island. In true singaporean style, we complained to the agency, and got a 4 USD refund each.

Fuck we should have gotten more.

4) Taxi Scam No. 2. - WE took a taxi cos we were tired, and the meter jumped faster than it would take for barnabas to hook up and fuck a stranger. It jumped every 300 m when the guidebook (LP) said 8000 d per km. In the end, we paid SGD 4 bucks for a 2 km ride?

5) Hanoi Star Cockup - I lost my receipt. And again, bureaucracy had a huge role in preventing a peaceful resolution of the situation, resulting in my headful of hair turning golden in colour.

6) Vietnamese Visa - SHIT WE EVEN GOT SCAMMED IN SINGAPORE! Vietnam Visas cost SGD 70 bucks. 30 days. We were told we could only get 14 days when we landed in vietnam, and since we were staying longer, we got visas. Lo and behold, border guards told us we didn't need them. Wonderful.

7) 10k dong bread ($1 buck) and 20k water ($2 bucks). After some bargaining, final price 3k for bread and 4k for water. Interesting how prices can drop so much.

8) and even better. The lady who went "10k for bread!". *cue incredulous stares from jesse and proceed to walk away*. "WAIT WAIT! 10k for 2 bread!".

Wow. They sure are learning crony capitalism badly.

On the bright side, Sapa was great. Halong bay was freaking boring as hell, (but i got a nice tan), and hanoi was just freaky and stressful.

oh, and jesse fell off a cliff. Nothing serious in the end. Thank God.

And Alan fell sick. And didn't go Sapa. Looks like he picked up a lot of vietnamese girls in Vietnam (let's see, the guide in Sapa, Shar i think (HEY NO COINCIDENCE HER NAME WAS THE SAME AS MY EX), Huoung in Hoi An, and many many others whose names we did not have). Damn looks like he's a great catch for vietnamese women. (hehehe).

Well, for my next odyssey, i wanna do a tour of the central americas, hopefully with my university friends, whom i hope are nice and warm and friendly. If not i'll kick them in the balls and be a loner and digusting as hell.

Thanks to all those who have been encouraging and reading up, although my lack of updates is really sad:)

Thank God for pulling us safely through the trip. Some accidents did happen that could result in deaths, but thank God the result was minimal.

And I love my bed and my room. And my laptop. I miss you all. Must start catching up with all of ya soon!

I'll post pictures and blog more in depth once my PDA is charged:). And also once I get my ass into blogging mood.

Some points to note:
1) Hanoi is FULL OF SCAMS.
2) Don't trust the price to tourist. If you can, cut it down by half. And cut it down somemore.
3) I start to believe in the power of God and mercy again.

Good luck. It's 1 am, my University is nearly confirmed (once i get my visa), and life in general is going great. haha.

In Retrospect

I realised my current post on my trip haven't been very much retrospective or very insightful. They are very expositional: Oh we did this this this, and we are going to do this this this. I actually wanted to capture the "heart" side of vietnam. We all can read books about the vietnam war, about the Marble Mountains, about Halong Bay, about Saigon, about the UNESCO world heritage sites. We can see pictures of the scenery, of the people etc etc.

What the hell is this trip for? Getting very tired of travelling actually. Just wanna be able to slack once again.

Had one of those nights last night. What would my life have been if i had made a different choice. If my personality had been a little different. If i had held my temper a little bit more at crucial moments. Who else could i have been friends with, talked with, shared good times with if i had reacted that little bit different, been a little more receptive and been a little more extroverted (not that i'm a closet introvert.)

questions questions.

Oh Liverpool beat Chelski. Well done.

Hoi An

Hello!

From the Riel "Dong You Ji" here. Live from Vietnam, Hoi An.

Beautiful city, UNESCO world heritage site. Fell sick in Nha Trang, Slept on the beach, slept more in the guesthouse, and slept more at night. Now a little better:) hehe.

Alex fell sick too. Oh well. After this trip, We would have gotten the H5N1 virus (HCMC, Nha Trang, HoiAn, Hue, Hanoi (and Halong Bay and Haiphong). So many Cities starting with H.

I made a suit, and also a wool jacket for USD 60. This is becoming a shopping trip, not a backpacking trip. Muhahaha...

Anyone wants anything? Tell me or SMS moi. I'm bored. hehe

Ok. It's Man U VS Newcastle in about an hour's time. See we even watch soccer every night. And we have upgraded to stay in Air conditioned Guest houses. Hehe. Mostly 4 bed rooms at about USD 3 a person. Less if we can bargain it down.

And i guess Vietnamese haven't encountered Singaporeans bargaining before. Muhahaha... FEAR THE SINGAPOREAN!

And my dad advised me against having sex while in Vietnam. I laugh out loud man. I'll post his exact email to me one day. Haha. As though my parents didn't bring me up well enough like that. Patpong and the sex trade

We were in Bangkok for the first 3 days or so before going to Cambodia on Thursday. And really, we did go Patpong. On the first day.

However,
1) we weren't there for the sex
2) we weren't there for the paedophilia
3) we DEFINITELY weren't there for the gay sex.

Anyway, we had a tough time finding Patpong, mainly because we took public transport, and Patpong isn't something you can find easily on a tourist map. 4 guys, together in Patpong makes a huge draw for all the touts and hookers in the area, and really we were being accosted all the way.

But first, some funny incidents. We were searching around the area, and accidently stumbled along the street where the ladyboys and the gays were. My god. I never had that many GUYS checking me out before. We were just walking down, and the number of heads that turned was like *oh shit*. I really thought we were going to be dragged into some dark alley and initiated into the world of the gays.

and really touts, DON'T EVER TOUCH ME!

it was shocking to say the least, to see old westerners engaging in idle chit chat with Thai boys. and holding hands. sharing spoons, sitting with a hand on the inner thigh. It was disturbing, even more so when touts approached us to offer us ladyboys. I mean if you see 4 GUYS travelling together, they must either be gay ALREADY, or have lost their way. Especially when the 4 guys are not holding hands or acting gay AT ALL.

I digress. Anyway, i must add that it may seem that i am condemming the western world for visiting patpong. I am actually. But it must be realised that in asia, homos are more underground and less upfront about their feelings as compared to caucasians. It is actually easier to see caucasians holding hands, kissing because they are more open sexually. so let's stop this pointing fingers thing. there ARE ASIAN GAYS. period. and asians, japanese, thais, filipinos, singaporeans all engage
in sex tourism. It's just that ang mohs are more open about it. (read sex slaves, a book about the sex trade in asia for details)

anyway i digress.

i must say that the Patpong trip really left deep impressions in all of us. At first, me and jesse were reluctant, and i was especially reluctant after all the touting to visit the various sleazy joints that offered pussy shows and prostitution. I don't say this because i want to portray myself as a morally upright person, but really, i type this as a record for my own thoughts.

1) Prostitution is wrong
2) Pussy shows are wrong

anyway, there was a lot of debate and dilly dallying between us on whether we should support the sex industry in Patpong. In the end, for the sake of friendship and togetherness, i went into one of the bars with my friends. Lucky me, i was on the outer left side of the 4 of us while jesse was on the right side. So obviously, me and jesse were the two who got the most "attention" (though unwanted) of the night.

Zl was unwilling to drink the beer (fuck man, we paid 300 baht (around $12) for the show and a free drink). well he was worried it was drugged. and we had to stick together, despite how unwilling i was to encourage such an immoral industry.

and fuck you all who say i'm doing this to show my good side. I had visited thailand before for community service, to Phayao, where girls are being saved from the sad sad life of being FORCED into the sex trade. i absolutely do not want this fate to befall any girl.

frankly, i feel sorry for the girls. there was this girl in a bikini to my left, and all she said and did the whole time we were there was to rub her breasts against my shoulder and say "sir, buy drink for me sir" and "sir some tips please sir". I think that's all the english she ever knew. and when i tried asking her when she entered the trade, she didn't understand. i really don't know if we did help the girls that little bit when we went into the "show". I sure hope we did, but whatever money we spent at the bar was probably going into the hands of the pimps and the controllers.

these girls have no future, and frankly, when the novelty of pussy shows wears off, these girls are just another statistic in the burgeoning sex industry of asia. i do regret going into the show, to pay 500 baht (with tips, dumb story, ask me another time) to support the industry. i was just fucking digusted, and fucking angry and sad with the humanity.

really, it was the worst of humanity on show. where girls were reduced to less than their humanity, to being the object of ogling men and curious tourists. (incidently, the bar was empty except for the 4 of us guys, another chinese man, and 2 foreigners who left soon after the show girl shot ballons with needles from her pussy). it's just sad. and these girls are broken into the sex trade, they accept their fate, they accept their status as the lowest of the low, for the pimps have already broken their self-esteem and sense of self-worth. you can injure a person physically, but the emotional and psychological scars will often last a lifetime, and potentially never heal ever again.

I'm sorry to all those who ever believed i was never the sort to engage in sex tourism. in fact, i'm sorry for myself, to having actually supported the industry in whatever little way i have. i comfort myself a little in telling me it was with friends, if i had gone alone, i would never had visited patpong at all. what's the use of having such high morals in a time of troubling society such as today? i really don't know. perhaps i'm in a mess i never knew.

but really, this backpacking trip has taught me much bout the world and much about myself. i am thankful for the way my parents and my friends have shaped who i am, that i am much more moral than what some of my friends have become. you can scoff at me, laugh at me. i don't care. this short 1 week has taught me about human tragedy, about human suffering, about religion, from christianity, to catholicism, to hinduism, to islam, to buddhism and even judaism. It has taught me about cruelty, from Pol Pot's regime to Thai's cheebyeness in allowing the Japanese through. It has taught me about the human spirit, in that even in the face of unspeakable terror can humans find the will to survive and to be morally upright. (read As the Broken Glass floats by Chanrithy Him, a survivor of Pol Pot's regime).

I hope as i go further in my journey, i would learn more about myself. I must admit i have been frustrated at my travelling companions, but i must learn to compromise, even if i don't really like to. I must learn to stand for my rights, for my own beliefs and my own principles, and not get dragged into another incident such as patpong. and for all my christian friends, be glad to know i did pray to Jesus for forgiveness and hope for the survivors of cambodia. Religion to me is still very very mixed. In fact, even the Ramayana and Buddism makes sense to me now.

I am a very mixed up person.

On to vietnam. Hopefully, i can learn more about the vietnam war. after all, my goals for this trip were just to learn more about the vietnam war and to experience backpacking. Cambodia is an enchanting country. perhaps if given the choice by IES, i would like to work there someday.

And lastly, im sorry to all those i've let down with the trip to patpong. And really, i feel like i have let myself down. Sorry Areyu and Jew, for not remembering about your plights. Hopefully, some of the girls will escape their tortured existance. I can only pray.

Military Thoughts

Short short thoughts on everything.

1) Aranya Prather - Poi Pet has casinos. And linus's Dad (from KoC) used to be a shareholder there. Wow.

2) We had a 4 hour wait at the border. Before that was a 6 hour train ride. During the wait, we overheard a german talking to a couple of young british. The german was there to take Camobodian Children into thailand for the sex trade. FUCKING GERMANS.

3) Cambodia is war torn. Begging was prevalent at Poi Pet. Even the bridges over the dirt road were military Bailey Bridges, used by the SAF engineers circa 1970s. And the wilderness was arid. Like totally flat ground. The trees were totally burned away from the wars 2 decades back, and no people were living on the land, because of the huge landmine problem.

4) Love you all, Sis bro, mum dad. Good luck:)

Thoughts In Cambodia

I went to the Toul Sleng Museum today.

During Pol Pot's regime from 1975-1979, the Toul Sleng was a prison called S 21 prison. It housed prisoners against the Khmer Rouge. Actually, it was a lousy excuse for a genocide.

Amazing how communism can incite such hatred against the educated and the priviledged. To kill 2 million people in 4 years is certainly a huge logistical success. So were the Holocaust, Rwanda's genocide and Nanking Massacre.

Ultimately, guns will always rule over logic and reasoning, for the simple fact that shooting someone is infinitely easier than converting someone over to your side.

I've been fine lately, been sleeping in a lot of air con guesthouses :) so wasting a lil more money then i expected. Oh well well. 1st week is over, now for the 2nd week up.

actually, cambodia is a country of unexpected paradoxes. amidst the ruins of war and terror, they are rebuilding their lives through the capitalist system, run by a dictatorial Hun Sen. Hopefully, the children of Cambodia can see beyong their fractured past and build for a better tommorrow. Poi Pet was the Wild Wild West, where dusty roads and beggars filled the streets. Siem Reap was seedy, a lil unsettling, but in Phomn Penh, it feels just like Bangkok or even a Singapore in the 1950s.

And it's the Khmer New Year, so more water splashes. SHIT.

Happy New Year, Cambodia

Something Written on a Long Train Ride

I'm on the train to Aranya Prathet. Class 3 & yesterday's air-con ride does have its difference. While we could relax in yesterday's comforts, it was back to the barest necessities when we reached today's train. Standing space. Nothing more, a lot of things very much less.

It has really brought me back to the days in Phayao, where the people were content with their lives, where the next human want did not exist. We saw a peaceful community, content to load their belongings on a train back home, presumably after their new year (Songkran) festivities. Elderly folks, content to lug heavy bags of vegetables onto a long haul trip, chatting amongst themselves above the din of the locomotive. There even was a guy chatting up one girl right in front of us! I wonder if Singapore would ever have such a scene on her MRT.

Khok Makok station reached @ 0930. We have a long journey ahead, and more uncertainty & fun as we draw nearer to the unknown - Cambodia beckons.

Adious

This time tomorrow morning, i'll be on a plane to Bangkok, to bang my cock. hmm maybe not, that'll hurt actually.

it's the start of Songkran tomorrow in Thailand, which means we're going to get soaking wet. On the bright side, there'll be girls in wet t-shirts so we can ogle all we like. hehe.

jokes aside, the accomodation is going to be a problem, because khaosan road is going to be jammed packed full. hopefully, we can get a good place to stay. As in good = no bed bugs, cheap (less than 500 baht HOPEFULLY, better still 100 baht) and hopefully in the same hotel:)

then it's shopping at MBK. Too bad we will miss chaptukchat (or however you spell it). Settle our visas to cambodia and the bus ride/train ride/whatever ride to Siem Reap too.

hehe it is THAT unplanned folks. i don't even know when i'm coming back. gonna be fun. Hope i have enough money, but then there's always phone call back to dad to beg for more money if required:) hehe.

One of those moments

I thought i was past teenage angst and feeling lousy and sad and totally drained. You know, the sort of feeling you get when the hormones just drain you totally and you are feeling snappy and uncooperative and just plain "wrong".

well, i'm having one of those moments right now.

it happened while i was just reading through some of my sister's entries and also her friend's (quite a cutie:), and then the whole melancholy and angst in those posts just made me feel angsty again.

like, JC love and secondary school blues. Those will always stay with you. I remember secondary school I was the most uncooperative shithead ever. I think. I did have a temper, i still do. Mum's temper must have rubbed off on me, though dad is such an even tempered guy. Either the quick tempered or even tempered lip jin can emerge at any moment, so even I don't really know myself.

i remember it was like after the sec 3 exams, and i did really badly for it. It's stressful you know, when you sit beside jiayong and junwen and jiayong is like A1 for lit, and Junwen is like A1 for science and you stare at your paper and it says like C6 or C5 or some dumb grade.

never actually failed something, till i got E8 for Higher Chinese in Sec 3.

hehe. well, i got called up to the chinese HOD, and the conversation went something roughly like this:

HOD: "you have to drop higher chinese".

Me: "Why?"

HOD: "it'll be better for your overall grades."

Me: "But i know i can do it"

HOD: "sorry, please consider dropping it. It'll be better for you."

then she passed me a paper to sign and confirm i was dropping higher chinese.

i took the paper, went out of the office, and disposed of it in the nearest damn dustbin i could find.

then i went crazy. I slammed all the doors along the 2nd floor near the astroturf, kick tables and chairs in every classroom, punching boards, hurling chairs; even thought of spraying the fire extinguisher all over the classrooms.

i couldn't believe it. It was like: ME? ASKED TO FUCKING DROP A FUCKING SUBJECT? go to hell. I know my own abilities. I know i screwed up. but don't make me do something i don't want to do, or there'll be hell to pay.

I think RI has a problem with students getting B3s for subjects, it pulls down their overall grades. Makes them look bad. I bet i was on every teacher's "sure get a whole lot of A2s and B3s" list.

and i even got into SSS. wow. The infamous SSS. Laugh all you want. NO ONE, i repeat, NO ONE, gets into SSS unless you are some chain-smoking, house-breaking rugby/soccer player.

Thank God for SSS actually. I actually studied for the first time in my life:).

and i went from getting the lowest Geography score in GEP history (4/25) to full marks. haha. that was funny. The geog teacher was like "eyes-wide-open-can't-believe-this".

never doubt my abilities, and never doubt your own abilities when everyone takes you down. grit your teeth, DEFY AUTHORITY and do what you believe in.

So on to JC life. It was fun. you know, ever had one of those moments where you just lie in bed, think about what could have been? especially relationships. reading sis's friend's blog made me think a lot there.

and i got one of those moments. it's like i always thought it would last. I wouldn't want to be in the middle, i want to be the last one. You know, those letters, the pictures, the gifts, the memories. they stay with you. I used to have this box keeping all my letters and pictures from her. read them all day long back in 2003. gives you hope when something as hopeless as army comes by, especially OCS. and of course, engineers and the shit that came inside. (To think of it, it's only ONE fucking shitbag that shat all over the course - well, it only takes one shithole).

Did i think it was over then? Of course not. It was like "i wish this was temporary", which morphed into "her current boyfriend is a dickhead and it's a mistake" and finally "i wish her all the best and hope she'll be happy". the first step i took after one particularly nasty drunken phone call was to throw out all my possessions.

try it. It helps. No more reminders, no more hang-ons from a previous era, no more memories, no more illusions.

sometimes, i regret it. mostly, i don't think about it. simply because it's not around anymore. I do keep the memories, for myself, the fun we had blading, shopping, watching shows, eating, eating and more eating. hehe. i guess you really need to open your heart to someone sometime.

and really, i just need to be alone sometimes. Most of the time actually. I like company, but as friends have realised, i don't reveal myself too much. i like my space, my music, my daydreams, my melancholy. i like peace, i like waves crashing into the beach, i like blue skies, i like wind rushing through my hair as i blade, i like the blue expanse of the ocean as you windsurf through.

i guess i'll always be a loner with a penchant for crowds. and thanks to you, for you have been there, and you have made me into who i am today.

as a friend: will always be there.

(i wrote this in a stupor and while playing away at the piano, maybe it will be deleted. go on voyeurs, emotional truth at its starkest. Satie could never said it better with his Gymnopedies)

Packing...

i was packing for the upcoming trip these two days... and i must say, army has thought me a lot about packing:)

like, i brought along some bungee cords (to secure stuff, hang clothes etc), black tape (for lots of things), a mug (for water), even maybe a boil water thingy (still considering)

and i even brought my goretex jacket. green and very waterproof. which would be GREAT because it's gonna be the water festival when we arrive in Bangkok. Songkran.

Excerpt:
Known the worldover for its characteristic tradition of water-throwing ranging from a courteous sprinkle or a polite splash, to harmless water pistols and showers from garden hoses to the well-aimed bucket or water-cannon... delivered in a festive spirit. Without a doubt, on the practical side, Songkran is a refreshing solution to "beating the heat" in the hottest season of the year.

Remember to go Booze for Jimmy Walkers at S$56. WOW.

Most Importantly,
Don't leave your dick behind.
See you guys at the airport tomorrow.

Then there's Silly Celle. I must she's pretty photogenic. But got look like Ah lian b4:). Interesting recent post about acne and differin gel. NO you don't die from ingesting differin gel (I think). Well, don't use it if you're afraid, use Retin-A instead.

I explained my situation and she came up with a verdict:
I have a hormonal imbalance!!!
Apparently, I have too much testosterone (bbahh.. not a surprise I guess).
(Does my testosterone explain my chor lo-ness?I am so manly..)

Pretty much the two blogs i had time for tonight. Feeling tired, still gotta go William's house tomorrow for Burnout and SQUASH! (the real kind, not the game).

Hate... A strong emotion indeed

I love cubans and more serious stuff

Why oh why is the world surrounded by people in love, people out of love, and people who don't give a shit about love?

now let's see... i belong to... category B and C. People out of love and people who don't give a shit about love.

now that's a lonely trait. But then, people who are lonely are often happy. contradiction? maybe.

I am happy. I think. I like my life as it is, guys nights out at Walas, meeting new people, going for drinks with friends, meeting female friends got random dinners monthly or so. it was so different when i was attached.

then again, it might be better to attach. I've been reading around, and i though like guys are more sensitive than women actually! REALLY??!?!?...

well. lemme illustrate. both Js haven's forgotten about their respective Ms, HL is being hounded by her ex, J is being hounded too, S is with some rich guy with a nice car, and I am sitting in the centre of it all, looking around at the drama.

how very interesting. If u know me well enough, u should know who i am talking about.

even HT can't forget about S.

So i asked myself? Have i really moved on? or am I just stuck in the singlehood gap, where i just like being alone, with my guitar, piano and laptop.

i don't know really. 18th doesn't have that much of a significance anymore, unlike some friends i know. and when she didn't turn up for my commissioning parade, like she promised to, i had heartache, but didn't feel the need to bawl my heart out.

bare the soul and show the heart.

Lemme give you my theories.
Girl breaks up. Bawls for an hour. Calls female friends. Cries, analyses behaviour over past month, checks letters, cries again, sobs to sleep, a week later, goes for shopping therapy. Heals.

Guy breaks up. Doesn't cry. Goes around. Life is normal. Says hi to friends. Asks WANNA GO FOR A DRINK? parties wildly, buys a lot of drinks for people he doesn't know, gets dead drunk, makes drunken phone call to gal, screams YOU RUINED MY LIFE YOU STUPID BITCH, wakes up next morning, regrets, calls gal, says sorry. Wash rinse repeat.

Point 1) ALL GUYS HAVE MADE THAT DRUNKEN PHONE CALL.
Point 2) GUYS REMEMBER MORE DETAILS.
Point 3) GUYS MOVE ON SLOWER.

DAMMIT I WANNA BE A GAL. haha. ok ok maybe not, cos i'll miss my dick. but imagine, how do you even fucking pee with a pussy? *shudder* if i could be a gal for a day, i'll masturbate and see what a female orgasm feels like. yay. most of yall don't even have one yet anyway :) and boobs. wonder how THAT feels like on you.

ok back from my train of hedonistic and morally wrong thoughts.

You see, i'm surrounded my friends who pine for their ex-es. did i pine for my ex? I sure did. but it has healed somewhat. after all, i don't have a nice car:( hehe. but i have friends who party the hell out of their brain, get shit drunk, and do stuff i consider to be wrong.

wait that's hell cool. Raymi does that. me wuvs raymi.

maybe it's time to shed the good lip jin and become the bad lip jin. but then all the bad lip jin does is sleep in bed and type blogs that no one gives a shit about.

wow whee. wake up. all of you. I only known of 1 friend who's ex came back to him, and because she wanted him back too. and really, it's better to move on then to pine for those you have once loved and lost. and in reality, once gals make up their mind (THAT EX IS A JERK!) and you fall into the "FRIEND" category, it's never possible to ever have sexual relations with that woman again.

unless you're Bill Clinton. I didn't inhale too.

maybe I should become someone like David Gan, lots of celeb friends who ARE DAMN CHIO and DAMN POPULAR, but lonely and ugly. yay. my new role model is David Gan.

a) Pope died. Really. I'll take a minute silence on friday as a sign of respect to him. He was a great human. And he was tolerent of other religions and other views.
b) Heysel incident? Where liverpool and Juve fans fucked themselves up when I was born?
c) The girl who got bird flu in vietnam cos she drank duck's blood?

Send a message to God.

What a good way to say it...

Excerpt:
In the wake of the tsunami disaster, it's time for believers to take a more proactive role in world events. It's time to boycott God.

Centuries of uncritical worship have clearly produced a monster. God knows that he can sit passively by while human life is wantonly mowed down, and the next day, churches, synagogues, and mosques will be filled with believers thanking him for allowing the survivors to survive. The faithful will ask him to heal the wounded, while ignoring his failure to prevent the disaster in the first place. They will excuse his unwillingness to stave off destruction with alibis ("God wasn't there when the tsunami hit"—Suketu Mehta) and relativising ("for each victim tens of thousands yet live"—Russell Seitz), even if those excuses contradict God's other attributes, such as omnipresence or love for each individual life.

from slate.com

Another comment on the recently deceased pontiff can be found here.

Excerpt:The papacy is not, in theory, a man-made office at all. Its holder is chosen for life, by God himself, to hold the keys of Peter and to be the vicar of Christ on earth. This is yet another of the self-imposed tortures that faith inflicts upon itself. It means that you have to believe that the pope before last, who held on to the job for a matter of weeks before dying (or, according to some, before being murdered) was either unchosen by God in some fit of celestial pique, or left unprotected by heaven against his assassins. And it means that you have to believe that the public agony and humiliation endured by the pontiff was also part of some divine design. In the case of a presidency, or even a monarchy, provision can be made for abdication and succession when physical and mental deliquescence occur. But there could obviously not have been any graceful retirement in the case of John Paul II. The next vicar of Christ could hardly be expected to perform his sacred duties knowing that there was a still-living vicar of Christ, however decrepit, on the scene. Thus, and as with the Schiavo case, every last morsel of misery has been compulsorily extracted from the business of death. For the people who credit the idea, apparently, heaven can wait. Odd.

How radical the views of the netizens. We have lesbian couples, cool as shit-on-drugs bloggers like raymi (my current favourite), [xiaxue you can go suck on her nipples], and tony pierce and cool hard trash talking, alternative view people on slate.msn.com.

Religion is crutch. A crutch for those who cannot and will not believe that Man is ultimately a fuck and die person. They want to feel purpose, they want to feel that they are important to someone. they want to feel a sense of belonging.

guess what. dream is over lover boy. You are alone. you are nothing. you are a fuck machine. you are here to procreate and die. sure sure, subscribe to any idealogy you like, zen: there is no shit, islam:that shit happens is the will of Allah, christian:forgive our shit. just know that it is a fearful thing to die. to switch off just like my little acer 8104 laptop here. power off, screen goes blank and black, and tada, new cache and memory when i restart it again.

so buddhist.

by the way, i went to a buddhist primary school, subscribed to christianity when i was in secondary school and have a few muslim friends. so fuck you if you think i am talking cock and bull.

So dear God, Allah, Jehovah, Buddha, Confusing Confucious, Plato, Descartes, Scientology God. whatever.

Where were you when the Tsunami struck?
Where were you when 9-11 happened?
Where were you when wars broke out?
Where were you when the bomb blast in Southern Thailand Airport killed 2?

The Earth has survived for 4.2 billion years. In another few billion years, the sun will become a supernova and engulf this planet. and life will start again somewhere in the universe.

check out raymi's blog here.

Excerpt from Raymi
i must have cried eighty times last nite because i am a soap opera and i almost threw up but i didn't.

i went out for a smoke at one point and asked this wannabe hipster for a light and i thanked him afterward and he went, MMHMMM.

How irreverent when talking about a dead pope.

Also i love tony pierce. Weird american and canadian shit heads on drugs. my gawd. they're way cool. why make your brow so high browed and unreadable and un-understandable when you can just comment on fucking and dead popes.

Excerpt from tony pierce
my tivo's fucked. but unlike the pope, it will be back and better than ever once i take it to my dude.

i am too staid. need to revamp. but that is just not me.

who is me anyway? wadever. I have periods where i feel high and drunk and just cuss away and am crazy and want to take drugs and drink a lot and want to fuck every single girl on the dance floor.

then i have other times where i am just normal and saying hi and friendly and witty and acting damn spasticated.

then i have other times where i scream at my mum and shout at my brother and hurt the ones i love around me and cuss and swear and play god damned beethoven on the piano at fucking 2 am in the morning cos it is so required to wake the neighbours up.

i like jazz. soothes the soul. and i'm really into avant garde piano. you know, the one where you just play notes and chords and sing along. and everyone pretends that you are great when you are actually just some blind half ass fuck like ray charles or stevie wonder.

blind people have all the luck. i have twice the skill and infinitely less fame than blind black fucks like ray and stevie.

shit on me grave.

P.S. that is so going to get me killed in chicago.

Musings on a monday morning

If anyone wants to experience a mini stampede, try walking against the human flow at Raffles Place MRT at 8.30 am on a monday morning.

That's what I did.

Honestly, the closest Singapore can ever get to a organised march is either the 24 km route march in BMT, or a morning rush hour after a train has stopped at one of the major interchanges.

Well, i saw people this morning. Not just faces on the train, but real living, breathing people. People with emotions. Tat old man sitting opposite me eating his macdonalds, the lady on the train dressing to catch the eye of any guy, and generally people just minding their own business and hustling and bustling everywhere.

then i saw 2 backpackers. and i wanted to talk to them, for backpackers have all the stories in the world to tell, and usually they are very interesting.

and i though, why don't singaporeans talk to one another anymore?

The last time i asked a lady for the time, she looked at me as though i was going to steal her wallet, drag her off the train and rape her. and being singaporeans, i am sure that none on the train would have taken any action if i had done just that.

Singaporeans are just pathetically apathetic. Example. The pope died. and this guy goes on the radio, and tells the "pope joke": about how it was raining back in the 1980s when the pope came and he joked "that i liked watersports."

because it was raining.

wow. how funny. of course, not making light of his death, but if you can't tell a real joke, please keep it off the national airwaves thank you very much.

back to apathy. the morning rush is soooo depressing i tell you. I know i know, you all are going to work, and work is depressing. but at least appear happy. when i look around the MRT, all i see are glum faces. that man over there, he's thinking: "DAMN MY BOSS", and that woman over there is going like "I NEED TO HAVE SEX WITH MY BOSS". (okay okay i'm making this all up).

but seriously folks, if you want to be noticed, there's no use putting on all the make up on the world to get noticed on the MRT. just put on a smile. Serious. Smiles are rare in the world today. i caught a smile on the MRT, and it made my day. Of course, it was from a pretty lady, but then, i was grinning like a fool all the way because i just found it soooo hilarious that everyone is glum on monday morning.

yeah i know, i'm weird, don't tell me about it.

blogging at macdonald's on a monday morning does weird things to your brain.

The Pope.

The pope died.

Being a non-catholic, well, he was still a great human being. and he probably did more good for world peace than I ever could.

God bless you holy Father. and may your spirit live forever.

Random Rants

First off.

Michelle's blog at http://onegreenmonster.blogspot.com/. One very very green monster. Tada.

Secondly, Vietnam trip more of less confirmed. Sheesh. Finally coming true. Kinda looking forward to it. With all the cockups, the fun, the whores in Thailand (see, no touch), the wars in Vietnam and Cambodia, the poor children, the mosquitoes, the sweat, the Angkor Wat. We're all going to experience that soon. In exactly 12 days time.

Coming back on the 7th of May. I'll bring my Laptop there, I think. So I can pen down random rants.

And MOST OF ALL: RESULTS FOR UPENN ARE OUT IN 6 HOURS! 5 pm EST time. Online. I'll be awake at 5:50 am, clicking madly on the webpage and trying to get my results. That's how much it means to me. I really really really really really hope I can get Penn. Simply because it would be the best undergraduate business school in the world. And that contacts are made and lost at that school. Wish me luck.

If not, I'll just go Chicago, where the education is good too, with lots of Singaporeans. But I am always one who bucks the trend. I joined HCJC (not RJC), decided to go America to study (not Europe), didn't quit H.Chinese in RI, (even though my chinese HOD was bugging me to.). I love defiance.

and frankly, my battle with acne is still ongoing. I'm keeping an acne journal, going to skin doctor tomorrow. Finally decided to do something worthwhile about it. Maybe I'll go for dermabrasion, but currently, just going on the Regimen as stated in www.acne.org. Hopefully, my skin will improve before I go overseas. Ask me anything about acne, I'm now an expert.

and really, to all sufferers out there, don't ignore it like it'll go away. It won't. Recognise the problem and get an solution dammit. I use Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic acid (2.5% and 2%) respectively, along with topical Clindamycin Phosphate (Diacin T). I'll ask for oral antibiotics from the derm tomorrow, after all it did help back in J2.

Well, my acne history started when I was in J2. During the A levels to be exact. Before that, Neutrogena Acne Wash was my cleanser of choice, and it worked well for 2 years. Then A levels, happened, I got stressed, and a bomb exploded. haha. I switch to Biore. BAD MOVE. It got worst. Finally went Derm during BMT days, but discountinued during OCS. With all the camou and dirt and sand, well my skin could never be good. But now, after ORD, THAT'S IT! MY BATTLE AGAINST P.ACNES SHALL SEE ME VICTORIOUS!

haha. I can joke about it, but really, it does affect your confidence. I knew I was in trouble when my usually high ego took a battering. Oh well.

6 more hours to go. I shall sleep, and then wake up to good news. I hope. I've been dreaming about it for the past few nights. Never had a good sleep. See, that's how much getting into Penn means to me.

7:21 in the morning

i get these period of time where i really love to blog, to write down my thoughts, to pen down my emotions. and then there are other periods where i just fuck myself over and over and withdraw into my own little shell. interesting.

it's time to study psychology dammit. anyway, this is an affirmation. i am carrying too much baggage, and being way too serious with a lot of things. it's time to have fun again. time to do crazy stupid shit like car surfing, popping out of the boot, jumping off the cliff. yeah. to hell with consequences.

now that really wasn't me talking was it? haha. i remember i did do a LOT of crazy shit all the way. whether it was spraying extinguisher foam all over tables, or quarreling with authority, or just plain acting dumb. (remember chasing clarence all over HCJC, my god that was plain dumb).

yay. i love my life. and again, i got the dream about wharton. I AM SO PISSED! when will the DAMNED post come? just get it over and done with. Tell me if i'm in or out of Penn dammit! I can't stand the wait, and frankly, past nights, i've been dreaming about getting the post. some nights, i got in, other nights, i didn't. and IT NEVER FAILS TO WAKE ME UP FROM MY SLEEP. what the hell. i'm getting stressed over a university application. This shows just how much i want the god damned university.

So for goodness sake FEDEX, HURRY UP!

Wishing you all the best

To a friend:

hey, i caught your blog online, and also your ex gf's blog. you know who you are. we worked together, and also shared the same bunk. i shall call you mat.

don't worry about things too much. you should move on from yout ex i feel. both of you are very funny, in depression over something that happened so long ago. i have other people who are in depression as well, some in worse shape than you. i try my best to talk to them, to chat to them, to help them and to be a friend. i cannot be everywhere always, i am not an old school engineer.

and frankly, long distance relationships suck. i remember i broke up with my ex on sept 13th 2003. all these dates stay with you. your ORD date, your birthday, her birthday, your break up date, your get together date, how you all met, how you feel when she looks at you, when she touches your hand, when she smiles. each is a memory of the past, and we tend to look through the illusions of the present. we try too hard, too much without getting recognition. we try to be understanding, yet erupt when temper hits us. we try to be modest, but are arrogant at the most inopportune times. we try to be the perfect bf, but we can never be, whether because we aren't rich, have acne problems, have birth defects, have domineering mums or are just plain wrong.

love is never a sure bet. it is a lottery. a game of poker, a game of roulette. to all those leaving overseas, don't break someone's heart now by fooling around, by pretending to be someone you are not. be genuine, for people see through a mask in an instant. be strong, for there will always be those for take you down. be firm in your beliefs, for you must hold the moral high ground. be straight-forward, for diplomacy is played only in office politics and political circles. in human relations, be as geunine as you can, without fear nor favour. if you hate someone: say so.

you will always fall in love again. love is just a mutual liking for each other, coupled with the lack of someone else to fall in love with. i know i am cynical, but i do this to protect myself, to enclose myself in my own emotional wall and let no on untrusted in. for those that manage to break in are those that often give you the greatest pain, but in return, they have given you the greatest joy. you will be succesful, with your attitude and your ability, and with success comes pitfalls.

i wish you the very best in love and in life. and i think i'm in need of some luck in love as well.

*sigh*

Musings in the night

It is 3 am at night. My body clock is screwed up. It's that bad. I have a dental appointment at 10 am tml, clarence dad's job, and i can't get to sleep.

oh well.

then i started thinking about updating my blog. and about love and religion, and about freedom of speech and freedom of choice.

you see, i was with jo at gardens just now, and we were talking about casinos and lawsuits and mothers. interesting choice of topics i must say. Casino debate has been ongoing in the papers for some time now, and frankly, i'm totally against casinos. i have to be, after vegas nearly wiped out my family savings 10 years ago, along with most of my ang pow money. and my dad has poor financial judgement, losing quite a bit in the stock market and other investments. i'm surprised we managed to get along so well all these years.

anyway, back on track, my family has a betting history. not my immediate family, but my relatives. and really, the social costs that accompany a casino are just to great to ignore. you will definitely see addiction, some social problems, even a possible rise in theft. and singapore already provides much needed entertainment in the form of legalized gambling. Casinos aren't just worth the economic purse because socially, there will be repercussions. and frankly, letting the people choose is right, but then you can just go genting. freedom of choice and democracy is not about providing vices and allowing people to choose among them. it's not just providing drugs, adult entertainment, gambling dens, cigarettes and then telling the populace: it's your life, how you want to screw it up, it's your choice.

i am a firm believer in government, that the power to do something is packaged with the responsibility to do something (So spiderman) Yes, singaporean society has matured and are more discerning (Tell that to the guy who tried to pick up his shoe from the MRT track for goodness sake). and about common sense, i don't even want to talk about it. some people are DEVOID of common sense. not just mothers, but even sons.

which brings me to my rant on sex.

yes. interesting. 3 am and i'm thinking about sex. how nice. it all started with reading on the forums that this netherlands guy lost his virginity at age 13. wow.

and i'm wondering, do people have sex for pleasure? or do people still believe in "love". i for one am still a hopeless romantic. i hope. (but i'm hopeless, therein lies the paradox).

i subscribe to the belief that sex would be quite empty if you don't love the sexual partner. i guess going to church did have some impact on me after all. i still keep the "i am a responsible boy" card in my wallet, where it expounds respect for the girl as a woman, mother and future wife of someone. and frankly, that is being lost in the world today. when you have 2 friends sharing the same girl, that's just gross you know. i mean, sex is definitely pleasurable, but to do it with someone you don't love is just weird. i for one, could never imagine myself having sex with someone if i don't even like the person. and even if i like her, it's a definite no no.

and i love some theories that have came out

FACT#1: ALL GIRLS ARE HORNY
FACT#2: ALL GUYS ARE HORNY
CONCLUSION: WE SHOULD JUST ALL HAVE SEX,

yeah and feel empty after that.

sex without love is just like mutual masturbation. i think that if you love a person, making love has a much deeper meaning and purpose than having sex. you can have sex with a SGD$40 whore from Chiangmai, but you can only make love to someone you feel for.

for the record: i never fucked anyone from a club before. that's just wrong.

damn. all the thinking must have gotten to me, i have so many thoughts, but i just can't pen them down. my thoughts are like a typhoon, caught up in its own little swirl, flitting around and never being caught long enough to be fully argued out and thought through.

and the bet that NTU has 1 person having sex everynight is still on.

A joke to all lesbians

A guy came into a bar one day and said to the barman "Give me six double vodkas."

The barman says "Wow! you must have had one hell of a day."

"Yes, I've just found out my older brother is gay."

The next day the same guy came into the bar and asked for the same drinks. When the bartender asked what the problem was today the answer came back, "I've just found out that my younger brother is gay too!"

On the third day the guy came into the bar and ordered another six double vodkas.

The bartender said "Jesus! Doesn't anybody in your family like women?"

"Yeah, my wife..."

Boredom

Ok guys, I am so bored i decided to blog.

how sad is that. I'm so bored, i started playing Kings of Chaos at a FEVERISH rate. I mean feverish. for all of those who read regularly, give me a click:) Thanks. It'll only take up like 3 seconds. and join me if you're bored and want a game to play also.

More about KoC here.

Anyway, just blogging random topics. Most of ya all don't know what Kings of Chaos is. It's just a online MMORPG game that i stumbled upon one lazy sunday afternoon while duty in camp last october. It's fun, cos you get to know people from all over the world. E.G. I'm talking to this costa rica guy and a lesbian couple. how cool is that. haha.

I'm bored my day consists of sleeping until 1 pm, eating, playing Xbox, sleeping again, watching tv, playing more Xbox, surfing the net and sleeping. I don't ever need to leave my room again because i moved the TV in and i have a laptop. So i'm just bumming in my room. damn

and it's only 2 weeks after ORD. and I'm still earning $200 a month from piano, but i need more money. haha. considering i don't go out that often anymore, money is a luxury nowadays. it has always been.

Now, it's easter Sunday and good friday.(ok the other way round). And frankly, I haven't believed in Jesus Christ since I read Da Vinci and did more reading up on Gnostics and Islam and the History of the Catholic Church. I think that Jesus is just a revolutionary in the early centuries, who was matyred because of the political and social situation in 0 AD. Gospels and the Bible was a work by Constantine, the Roman emperor who found it politically and socially desirable to create a empire under 1 religion. Religion has always been used as a tool to garner like minded followers, to appeal to the human sense of belonging.

I could argue both sides of the coin, about the miracles that Jesus performed, and about taking the leap of faith to believe in Jesus Christ. At this point in time, I rather take the Gnostic view. Humans are definitely fallible, and there is someone out there greater than us. And frankly, when I went to Kevin's grandmother's wake, and he told us they had tried to convert her to christianity. Coupled with Jesse's story about how his grandfather converted just before he died, i think the afterlife (or lack thereof) is really such an appealing view for people to hold on to, that we put ourselves on a pedestal high above all other animals, that we do have a PURPOSE in life.

Bullshit. You are here to fuck and procreate. Then die. Happy dealing with that.

Now i'm bored.

Sorry all for the lack of updates

Hey all,

Sorry i haven't been updating my blog that frequently. Anyway, just a short short summary of the past week.

1) 4L gathering on 190305 went quite well. Everyone turned up (Almost, except for Boonkie and Lawrence). Even Mark came at like 11pm and we all ended up in the pool. I fell asleep at around 3 am. couldn't take 5 long nights in a row:)

2) Bravo Pl3 gathering didn't go so well, not a lot of people came. but then, good to see those who came. Next time must send invite earlier cum constant reminders. Or maybe i'm just such a boring prick that everyone just ignored me.

3) Upgraded the software in my laptop. Yay.

4) Got back Pink IC.

5) Played Need For Speed Underground 2 for the past week or so, very very fun.

That's about it. Will post more when i finally stop playing need for speed underground 2. Meanwhile, it's just so fun!

Pink IC

Today, i took back what belonged to me since i was twelve years old, which was forcibly taken away from me by the military. it was something i haven't treasured when i first gotten it, and even lost it when i was 15 years old. today, i got back my pink IC.

now, getting back a pink IC should have garnered whoops of joy. certainly it did for me. i was elated, estactic, happy etc etc. i even smsed all my close friends. haha. the procedure itself was relatively simple, except for the logistics branch which did everything in it's power to deny my rightful ownership. (yeah my fault for not getting clearance done fast enough). after frantically running around, looking for storemen, CQMs, RQ, S4, CD store IC, i finally filled in my clearance form.

I got my pink IC back. so happy.

then it hit me. I have 13 years left. shit.

oh well. time to start earning big bucks so i can be exempt from NS.

for now, it's Need for Speed Underground 2 for me. Full time NFSU2.

Acne Stuff.

Your Personal Day of Death is...
Saturday, August 3, 2058

how interesting. i die so young. well if I set it to optimistic mode, my death timing becomesTuesday, October 15, 2080. That's more palatable. 96 years of age. I wonder what i wanna do if i live that long.

on another note, i finally found some acne shit that actually works. try www.acne.org and follow their regimen for those with acne problems. for the record, i already spent close to $400 bucks on skin treatment and creams and whatever. labseries, biore, neutrogena, proactive, even SKII, i've tried them all. and dammit, my condition doesn't seem to get better. fuck the A levels, only after A levels then outbreak. must be the switch from Neutrogena to Biore that did it. no time to buy neutrogena face wash, so used Biore and dababoom! exploded
