Musings...

From mrbrown.com

Excerpt:

Dear Mummy,

I am feeling very sad.

Today in school, Zhong Guoren — my classmate from China — beat me again, in a maths test. That boy is an unstoppable genius machine.

Last week, he beat me in sports too.

If he were not here, I would have come in first and gotten a gold. But because the Government says we must welcome foreign talents to increase our population and to improve our economy, I got a bronze instead. This sucks.

Ahh the perils of competition and global knowledge. and of course, there are thousands of Zhong Guorens out then, wait, BILLIONS in fact. and frankly, there's nothing we can do about it.

we can: take the the protectionist stand, and then die from it. Like the right-wing movement in Europe nowadays. Or we can challenge ourselves and fight to the death.

ahhhh.. a sea of bloody competition. or go create a niche for yourself. you ain't alone in the world anymore Singaporeans. Your economy is global, your outlook is global, you will have to work as hard as your ass can take it.

and i laugh at the premiership wanting to limit foreign players. what a clear cut case of protectionism in action.
